Occupational Therapy
Driving Support tailored to you
Whether you're learning to drive, returning after a break, or completing a medical assessment, our experienced driver-trained occupational therapists, therapy assistants and instructors are here to support you. We take a collaborative, cost-effective approach that makes the most of your NDIS plan, so you can work towards safe, confident driving with the right team beside you.
Learning to Drive
Helping you to take the wheel
If your goal is to get your learner or probationary licence, our OT Driver Assessor (OTDA) will guide you through a two-part Clinical Assessment:

-
Off-Road Assessment, which includes an initial interview and standardised assessments.
-
On-Road Assessment, or a Passenger Activity Assessment if you don’t yet have a learner’s permit.
From there, your ActivOT OTDA will create a report to support your driving lessons and therapy sessions.
We’ll work with you over time (often 12 to 24 months) to build the confidence and skills needed for success behind the wheel.

Returning to Driving
A safe return to independence
If you're looking to return to driving after a period of illness or injury, we’re here to help. Our OT Driver Assessor (OTDA) will start with a Clinical Assessment, made up of:

-
Off-Road Assessment – including an interview and standardised assessments.
-
On-Road or Passenger Activity Assessment.

Our OTDA will provide a report and plan tailored to your needs and goals, whether it's driving lessons, therapy, or vehicle modifications.
On average, this process takes around 6 months, but we will work with you toward safe, supported driving.
Senior Driver Assessments
Navigate driving requirements with ease
If your GP requires you to complete a driving assessment, our OT Driver Assessor (OTDA) will start with an Off-Road Assessment to understand your current skills and needs.

Based on those results, we’ll determine if an On-Road Assessment is recommended and guide you through the process.
