Kerin Smith, ActivOT Dernancourt, completed her studies in occupational therapy at the University of South Australia in 2011.
Kerin has worked as an occupational therapist for 10 years, predominantly within the areas of:
· aged care (community, acute and sub-acute settings with a focus on cognitive functioning, falls prevention and dementia rehabilitation)
· adult neurological rehabilitation –community setting long term rehabilitation
· complex case management and service coordination
· home modifications and equipment prescription.
Kerin completed her Certificate in Driver Assessment Training in 2016, and is looking forward to providing quality driver assessment services to ActivOT consumers.
As an occupational therapist in Dernancourt, Kerin is passionate about empowering her clients to achieve their goals. Her approach is all about sharing knowledge, skills, and encouragement, collaboration and guidance in a positive and safe environment.
Kerin is currently undertaking a Master’s Degree in Dementia Care. Through her Masters, she aims to expand her passion for treating neurodegenerative diseases within community, where she can focus on rehabilitation, re-enablement and preventive practices.
A mum of two young children, Kerin enjoys spending time with them and working on family projects together. Currently, Kerin and her family are learning to make plaster ornate moldings and building a new chicken coop for their six chickens.
