“I’ve learned that people will forget what you said… and what you did… but people will never forget how you made them feel.”

About Hayley

Hayley Vince, ActivOT Summertown, has a special interest and passion in stroke rehabilitation. She has extensively reviewed evidence based practice and trained others to ensure adhering to National Stroke Guidelines. She has also worked with people who have experienced major heart surgery, hip and knee surgery, acquired brain injury, and who are recovering post motor vehicle accident. She is greatly inspired by this quote from one of her favourite books “The Brain that Changes Itself” by Norman Doidge: “The idea that the brain can change its own structure and function through thought and activity is, I believe, the most important alteration in our view of the brain since we first sketched out its basic anatomy and the workings of its basic compenent, the neuron.” Hayley firmly believes that individuals of any age or ability have the potential to change – there is always hope! Hayley has strong core values of respect and empathy, and loving people no matter what. She believes that the client and their family and carers are the experts on their journey of pain, disability, or struggles in life. She has learned that often what people want is to be listened to and be offered guidance and help to fulfil the roles that are important to them. She is very excited to join the ActivOT team, and looking forward to working entirely in people’s own homes and community. In her spare time, Hayley enjoys working with her husband and four children on their farm in the hills. They have a market garden, roadside stall, and hundreds of chickens that keep them busy. Driving children around the hills community to sporting activities is a major occupation of hers! If you popped into the farm, you may find Hayley stirring a pot of jam on the stove, making sourdough, packing some pasture raised eggs, or chasing a donkey, an alpaca or a gaggle of geese up the track.
