Nerida Polkinghorne

Nerida Polkinghorne, ActivOT Bowden, is a neuro-affirming therapist with lived experience, taking a strengths-based and individualised approach in her practice. She is dedicated to client-centred care, taking the time to understand her clients and their support networks to achieve the best possible outcomes. She values collaboration and personalised interventions to enhance functional engagement. Nerida is actively supporting individuals who are funded under NDIS and My Aged Care. Nerida worked in acute care at The Royal Adelaide Hospital for over 10 years. She worked with individuals to complete OT assessments, prescription of equipment, minor home modifications and discharge planning. In this role, she also implemented an allied health assistant research project, as well as undertaking management and supervisory responsibilities. She has also been providing clinical tutoring to third year university students on clinical placement for over five years. With experience across acute, community, and tertiary settings, she has worked with diverse clients and conditions, including autism, brain injury, progressive neurological conditions, psychosocial disabilities, intellectual disabilities, amputations and cognitive impairment. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, spending time with her husband and two young children, and caring for her two small dogs. She has a passion for Pilates, coffee, music, and travel. She also has a strong interest in mindfulness and meditation, recognising their positive impact on daily life.
