Vidhi Mittal, ActivOT Pimpama

Vidhi Mittal, ActivOT Pimpama, is a passionate Occupational Therapist. She graduated from Manipal University, Karnataka, India with a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy in 2017 and was awarded the “Best Outgoing Student” of her cohort (2012-2017). She was also one of the two students to be offered a clinical placement of four weeks at Repatriation General Hospital (Flinders University) in Adelaide.

While training to become an occupational therapist, Vidhi also gained valuable volunteering and team-management experiences. She was a project coordinator at Volunteer Services Organisation (VSO) – Manipal University, India, where she led and took part in several community projects such as a free eye and hearing camp for over 550 school children, clean Manipal campaign, clothes donation drive, women health awareness camps and more.

Vidhi moved to Australia in 2019 and lived in regional NSW before relocating to the Gold Coast, QLD.

Since graduating, Vidhi has worked in a variety of healthcare settings (in Australia as well as overseas) including hospital (acute rehabilitation), community, residential aged care, pediatric and mental health private practices. She has gained and developed a broad range of occupational therapy experience and skills, working with individuals across the lifespan, with multiple clinical conditions.

In NSW, Vidhi was the lead therapist in a 130-bed aged care facility where she worked closely with older adults living with dementia, hearing/visual impairment, cancer, arthritis, stroke, Parkinson’s, falls and other age-related medical conditions.

Her skills and areas of interest include:

  • comprehensive OT functional assessments
  • home safety and falls risk assessments
  • equipment prescription/assistive technology
  • home modifications and functional retraining
  • activity adaptation, energy conservation and falls prevention strategies
  • caregiver training and education
  • cognitive screening and mental health intervention
  • end of life/palliative care and intervention

Vidhi strongly believes in seeing the “ability”, not the “disability” and is driven by what truly matters to the individual. Being an OT, she is passionate about person-centred care and collaboration with the family and other medical professionals. Vidhi enjoys working with clients in their own homes and local community so she can assist them in achieving their goals as well as to live a life that is meaningful and fulfilling to them. She is a strong client advocate and is also very supportive of providing services to the indigenous, veterans and individuals with low vision in the community.

In addition, Vidhi ensures that she participates in opportunities for ongoing professional development so that she can provide good quality intervention and the best care for her clients.

Vidhi provides mobile occupational therapy services to the Department of Veteran Affairs (DVA), home care packages, NDIS and self-funded clients in and around the Gold Coast area.

When not at work, you’ll find Vidhi spending quality time with her family/friends and enjoying gardening, yoga, nature walks, meditation or learning something new!
