Nora English (BOccTher (Hons))
ActivOT Sunshine Coast
Nora English, ActivOT Sunshine Coast, moved from Sydney NSW to Queensland for a lifestyle change in 2007.
The move enabled Nora to complete a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy at the University of the Sunshine Coast in 2016. Nora graduated with Honours and was awarded Occupational Therapy Australia’s Undergraduate student Academic Award.
During her years of study, Nora worked with families as a therapist for children living with chromosomal disorder and autism. Nora continued to work with children living with autism as a registered occupational therapist in early intervention.
Since graduating Nora has also worked within a residential aged care facility where she gained skills administering mobility and functional assessments, conducting manual handling sessions, equipment prescription, and home modifications. This role allowed Nora to work closely with older adults living with dementia, Parkinson’s disease, stroke, lower limb amputation, Dupuytren’s contracture, and mental health conditions.
With a lived experience of chronic illness Nora has developed empathy and understanding for people living with chronic pain. Nora is passionate about helping people live a meaningful life through education and empowerment and is the support group leader for Trigeminal Neuralgia on the Sunshine Coast.
As an occupational therapist on the Sunshine Coast, Nora’s main goal is to inspire her clients to lead fulfilling lives. Nora prides herself on providing her clients with the best client-centred care with effective strategies and environmental modifications to enable more productive, enriching participation in activities at home and within their communities.
Nora enjoys singing with a cappella barbershop chorus in her spare time and making the most of the beautiful beaches and hinterland of the Sunshine Coast.
