Marianne Tan, ActivOT East Adelaide, is originally from Singapore.
After receiving her Occupational Therapy Diploma with Merit from Nanyang Polytechnic, Marianne completed a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy (Honours) with Trinity College Dublin.
In 2019, Marianne moved to Adelaide and resides in the eastern suburbs. She has three years of occupational therapy experience.
Marianne worked in a government sub-acute rehabilitation hospital where she served adults from multicultural backgrounds experiencing a range of health conditions. She worked across the rehabilitation, palliative care and chronic sick unit (patients in vegetative and minimally responsive states).
While supporting her patients with orthopaedic, neurological, cardiovascular, oncological and general medical conditions, Marianne also provided caregiver training, equipment prescription, home modification recommendations and home assessments. In addition, Marianne participated in quality improvement projects to promote pet assisted activity and falls prevention within the hospital.
Marianne values meeting people from all walks of life and listening to their stories. Being a part of ActivOT, she looks forward to working with people in their homes and in the community. As an occupational therapist in Adelaide, she aspires to support people in living a life that is meaningful to them.
Before becoming an occupational therapist, Marianne gained valuable experiences through a blend of work in photography, church and special education. Marianne volunteered in the Philippines and Lebanon supporting children and adults with disabilities. These experiences led Marianne to explore occupational therapy as a meaningful career.
Away from work, Marianne enjoys a simple life – sunny days by the beach, nature walks, cuddling cats, sipping a warm cup of milk tea, admiring Japanese home designs, light cooking and connecting with her friends and loved ones.
