Cynthia Dunne, ActivOT TA Athol Park, was born in Brunei, and migrated with her family to Adelaide where she was raised.
She worked in the recruitment industry for seven years before leaving Adelaide for Edinburgh, Scotland in 2007. There she spent several years working across a variety of industries including recruitment, finance, not-for-profit, tourism and event management.
Cynthia decided on a career change and a return to university. She graduated in 2016, receiving a Bachelor of Health Studies (with Distinction), majoring in Occupational Therapy, at Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh, Scotland.
During her studies, Cynthia achieved over a thousand hours of placement experience in neurology, paediatrics, acute care of the elderly, and forensic psychiatry.
Since graduating, Cynthia has gained experience working in community mental health in both the UK and Adelaide. She also has experience working in both the private and the public sector providing Allied Health Assistant services for adults in short- and long-term rehabilitation, ranging from hip and knee replacements to traumatic and acquired brain injuries.
Cynthia joined ActivOT as a therapy assistant (TA) in December 2019, and provides occupational therapy assistant services in Adelaide. Cynthia also began studying for her Master of Occupational Therapy in 2020 at Flinders University to complete her OT qualifications.
Outside of work Cynthia values spending time with her family; is part of an award-winning women’s a-cappella group; and enjoys yoga, swimming and painting.
