Belinda Wallace (B OCC THER HONS)

Belinda Wallace, ActivOT Maroochydore provides occupational therapy services to the Sunshine Coast and Bribie island areas specialising in home care packages,  DVA and private clients

Belinda is originally from Melbourne, Victoria, and relocated to the Sunshine Coast with her family for the lifestyle in 2020. She has embraced the coastal atmosphere and people.

Belinda studied Occupational Therapy at Monash University in Melbourne and completed her Occupational Therapy degree with honours

Belinda has a wealth of transferable experience from previous work settings. She worked for five years in academia within the School of Psychology at Deakin University with a special interest in simulation-based learning to enhance postgraduate psychology student’s clinical competence. Here, Belinda began her occupational therapy journey, combining it with her wealth of lived experience to build therapeutic relationships with her clients and support them in their journeys.

Belinda has a personal relationship with becoming an OT. Her first child was born with Down Syndrome. He is now in his twenties and, with her experience as a mother and an OT, Belinda has been able to advocate and support him in building his independence to meet his goals.

As an occupational therapist, Belinda has worked in a variety of settings, including community aged care, dementia care, disability, acute inpatient mental health, inpatient stroke rehabilitation and community rehabilitation.

Belinda has a range of experience in the following areas of practice:

• Seating and wheelchair prescription, powered mobility device assessments
• Home modifications, assistive technology, manual handling, falls prevention
• Pain management, energy conservation, upper limb therapy and relaxation techniques.
• Pressure care prevention and equipment prescription
• Dementia care
• Palliative care

In addition, Belinda prides herself on continuing to develop her knowledge and skills by participating in professional development opportunities to provide the best up-to-date care for her clients

In her downtime Belinda enjoys making candles, visiting the local markets, exploring the local community landscapes and spending time with her family and their menagerie of animals.
